Statement From MH Leadership
Good evening Mercy Hill. Hope everyone is doing well. The elders and I want to let you know that we have decided to cancel our big church gathering on Sunday morning for the next 3 Sundays. March 22, 29, and April 5. Lord willing we will plan on meeting together the following week which is Easter Sunday, April 12. I don’t think any of us know for sure where things will be at by then or what all will transpire between now and then, as things continue to change day by day and hour to hour. If the spread of the virus would happen to lift and the restrictions and guidelines for meeting together would change, then of course we will reverse this announcement and meet together as soon as it is safe to do so. Just a reminder that we will be meeting for prayer tomorrow morning from 5-6:30 as we do every Tuesday and Thursday morning at that time. I would love to have anyone join us that feels comfortable doing so. Finally, a quick word of encouragement from our church wide daily reading plan in john chapter 7 today. It’s says in verses 37-39
37 On the last day of the feast, the great day, Jesus stood up and cried out, "If anyone thirsts, let him come to me and drink. 38 Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said, 'Out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.'" 39 Now this he said about the Spirit, whom those who believed in him were to receive, for as yet the Spirit had not been given, because Jesus was not yet glorified. - John 7:37-39
Mercy Hill, God has not left us alone. Even in this season when many are feeling isolated because of the effects of this virus rest assured that God has not left us as orphans and He wants to satisfy our hearts with His very presence. Keep your eyes on Jesus. Please let us know if there’s anything you need. Blessings.
Tuesday March 17th
The Men's Grace Based Recovery Group will be meeting as usual.
Sunday March 15th
Morning services are canceled.
We will still have our evening partnership class. If you would like to attend this class and have not signed up, you can sign up here.
The youth meeting Sunday evening has been canceled.
Statement From MH Leadership
Dear Mercy Hill Family,
As you all know the last couple of days have brought about a constant influx of information concerning COVID-19. This includes governor DeWine’s statement which bans large gatherings over 100 people. While we are aware that this ban does not include religious institutions, myself, along with the other elders at Mercy Hill Church have decided to cancel our Sunday morning “Big Church” gathering for this Sunday, March 15. While we still have many questions, as I’m sure most of you do, we feel that for the moment this is the best way that we can love our neighbor as Jesus commanded us and show extra care and concern for those who might be more susceptible to contracting the virus or experiencing more severe effects from it. In the end I think we will all want to say that we did all that we could to act with prudence, wisdom and love as we all pray for the spread of this virus to stop. Because of the fluidity of the situation we are not making any decisions about canceling other Sunday morning gatherings at this time, but know that we will be in regular contact with you as we prayerfully move forward. We will continue to send out updates regarding church activity via the church text chain, as well as the church website. In addition to this you are welcome to contact myself or any of the other elders and we will answer your questions to the best of our knowledge. During this time we hope to do our best to shepherd you well and are available to meet with any of you as we always would be. I will also be posting a short devotional video to the website this Sunday morning in lieu of not having a Sunday service which I hope helps you to worship Jesus and strengthens your soul. If we have any other updates concerning the life of Mercy Hill Church, I’m sure I will share it at that time as well. Finally, I want to leave you with a few closing thoughts about our glorious God and how we can continue to carry out our mission of helping every person to continually worship Him in the midst of this unique season.
1. God is in total control. He always has been and He always will be. He alone sits on the throne of the universe and He is reminding the entire world of this reality as we speak. (Psalm 115:3)
2. God is good. We can trust Him and we do not need to look elsewhere for salvation or provision. (Romans 8:28)
3. God is all wise. He does all things according to the council of His will. (Ephesians 1:11) Who better to make all decisions than the one Who knows all things!!!
4. This is absolutely, positively an opportunity for The Church to be The Church. Let’s not waste it!! Let’s act like we know The God who sits on the throne, because we do!! Be strong and courageous Mercy Hill. What an unbelievable privilege to have joy in the midst of sadness, peace in the midst of chaos and to share good new (the gospel) in the midst of a lot of bad news.
I’ll have a lot more to say about this on Sunday morning’s video post, but for now let us… “….Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice. 5 Let your reasonableness be known to everyone. The Lord is at hand; 6 do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. 7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:4-7)
